Book reviews

Toni Morrison

This has been one of the most impactful books I've ever read. It shows the opposite side of slavery that is often left out of school textbooks. The novel also shows a different perspective on many things and it was fascinating to watch those play out through the whole book.

Here are a couple links to work I've done related to this book:

Beloved  Questions

Beloved  Write-Up

Cormac McCarthy

This book was unlike anything I've read before. I'm not normally a sci-fi fan, but this book focused less on the environment and more on the relationship between the son and father. That was part of what made this story stand out in my mind and truly stick with me.

The Road Prompt

Laura Hillenbrand

This was a hard book for me to read and took a long time to finish. It's rich with facts and stories of horrible things that occurred. However, the book was incredible. It made me wish I had had the chance to meet Louis Zamperini in person and hear him tell some of his stories.

To show my understanding of the novel, a teacher had me write a review and design a new book cover that included a description, an author blurb, and if I thought it'd be read in 100 years.

Unbroken Review

Unbroken Book Cover

Harper Lee

I actually read these books in the wrong order. Which made it interesting because my perspective on characters and themes in the books changed as I read. I absolutely loved it! I think all books with actual merit should make you think. It should change your view on things and should require you to interpret. That's what makes discussions so interesting because different people interpret different things in their own, unique way and that forces you to see it in another light.

Unfortunately, I don't have any documents or recordings for these books. All of my proof was done in discussions instead of questions. Please contact me though if you'd like to know more about what I thought of these novels.
