During the long period of time when my family was in the hospital, we had many people offer their help. The only problem is that they didn’t know how to help. My family was more focused on Jordan than telling people how they could make our life easier. Dealing with the cancer was really overwhelming. The medical bills add up fast, the emotional strain on everyone is hard, and trying to balance work and staying at the hospital wasn’t easily done. Showing equal attention to your other kids just isn’t possible.
- Haleigh Richey
The open ended offer to a family of “call if you need anything” is genuine, but puts the responsibility on them to make the effort to reach out. They have little energy and are stressed about everything. If you want to help, offer to do something specific. Be creative in how you help, often it truly is the simplest of offers that help the most. Check out the "How To Help" page to get ideas.

How Can I Help A Family Dealing With Childhood Cancer?

Purpose of the Foundation:
"Cancer affects all of us. Whether you're a daughter, mother, sister, friend, doctor, or patient."
Jordan's Angel Foundation was established in memory of eight-year-old Jordan Richey and her seven-year battle against leukemia. Throughout our experience, we saw that many families with children in pediatric oncology had unmet emotional and financial needs. Jordan's Angel Foundation was created as a nonprofit organization dedicated to making a difference in the lives of families that have a child with cancer.
In order to meet the needs of these children and their families we assist with the funding for counseling, recreational opportunities, financial needs, assistance for parents to be with their child during medical treatment, airfare for grandparents to be with the family, grocery and gas cards, fun-filled parties to offer hospitalized children comfort, companionship and a break from medical treatment and opportunities for the family to create lasting memories with their child.
"Live with courage, love with faith, and laugh with hope."

Jordan’s Angel Foundation is dedicated to caring for families with childhood cancer by providing financial and in-kind assistance. We also work to help promote childhood cancer awareness.
